Knit Scandinavian Mittens, part 1

Learn to knit mittens with textile designer Elmina Fors! This course is for those who already know how to knit and want to take the next step and master mittens on double pointed knitting needles.
We are based on Elmina's own pattern Kärlek (means Love in Swedish) a two-color pattern with a textured cuff edge, Scandinavian shaped thumb gusset and pointed top. In the first part, we start with sizing and knitting the cuff and thumb wedge.
In part two, dates to be decided, we finish knitting the upper pointed top and go through finishing techniques such as how to wash and block the mittens so that they fit perfectly.
Knitting in the folk style is a meeting of tradition and craftsmanship. With simple utensils and natural materials, designs are created that carry the knowledge of generations. It's rhythmic, earthy and serene - a timeless technique that connects hands, heart and history.
Be prepared for the possibility of not being able to stop knitting mittens once you start!

Materials (the pattern Kärlek Mittens, knitting needles and 100g Swedish wool yarn) and coffee / tea included
Practical information
The course is held right on the water, with fika, wool yarn and knitting needles included. In fine weather we sit outdoors, otherwise in the design shop and knitting studio Elmina & CO. Observe you have to book your own ticket on the boats to take you out to the island.
Location: Hantverkslängan, Fjäderholmarna
The course is conducted with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 6. Elmina will send out more information about 4 days before the start of the course.
